RHINOPLASTY

Revision Rhinoplasty

by dr. Grace Boaz, Sp.BP-RE
Corrective repair for a nose that has already been operated on.

Revision Rhinoplasty is the correction of a previously operated nose whose result did not meet expectations — aesthetically or functionally (for example, difficulty breathing). It is a corrective, secondary procedure.

Why Revision Is More Complex

Revision rhinoplasty is among the most complex procedures in nasal surgery. Scar tissue and structural changes from the prior surgery make the anatomy less predictable, and supporting cartilage is often already depleted.

It therefore demands a deep understanding of structure, careful planning, and often additional grafts to rebuild support.

GRAFT & IMPLAN

Graft & Implant Options

Because septal cartilage may have been used in the first surgery, revision often uses ear (conchal) or rib (costal) cartilage to rebuild support. A silicone implant may be an option in selected cases — determined with dr. Grace.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can revision be done after the first surgery?

A waiting period is usually needed for the tissue to fully heal and stabilize — often around a year — before revision is considered. The right timing is determined at consultation.

No surgical result can be guaranteed, and revision in particular depends on the condition of the remaining tissue and structure. dr. Grace sets honest expectations and achievable goals at consultation.
